Richard Clasby?
Richard Clasby was a Cambridge-based social worker in the early 2000s. During his time as a social worker, he:- Abused and harassed a vulnerable client in her early 20s
- Impregnated this client twice, leading to the birth of two children
- Blackmailed the client to keep his secret
- Threatened to suffocate his baby if the client did not keep his secret
Why talk about this now?
Following this ordeal, Richard Clasby fled Cambridge to live in Bulgaria. He recently decided to that he'd been gone long enough, however, and returned to Cambridge, where his former victim still lives. Audacious, right?In preparation for his grand return, he was able to get the few articles that reported on him removed from the internet. Hence the existence of this website!
Did he get punished?
Unfortunately, Richard Clasby largely escaped justice. To the left is an image from Cambridgeshire Police explaining that the charge brought against him was, essentially, inappropriate. The victim was a vulnerable young woman, who had faced threats and trauma, and thus raised no further case with the police.The only consequence Richard Clasby faced was losing his job as a social worker. For a time, the articles online allowed for members of public to see and understand what he had done. This website aims to restore that ability.
